Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.

Xi Jinping addressed the Indonesian parliament in Jakarta and laid out his wish that China and Indonesia work together in building a Maritime Silk Road. The initiative wasn't formally named at the time, but would become 一带一路, the Belt and Road Initiative.

Xi Jinping announced China's Belt and Road Initiative though not with that name or vision. At this speech in the capital of Kazakhstan, Xi highlights the historical links between China and Central Asia. The next year he spoke in Indonesia of the maritime silk road portion of what will be known as the Belt and Road Initiative.
