Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.

USCI's Teaching about Asia discussion forum
The public portions of the forum offer a wealth of teacher-supplied resources and evaluations of resources. You can also learn about workshops, grants and other opportunities to learn more about Asia and how to bring it to your students. Everyone is welcome to read the thousands of film, website and museum reviews contributed by teachers and to browse other resources. Educators are welcome to join the conversation. Send your name, email address as well as information about what and where you teach to uschina@usc.edu to gain access.

Published three times a year by the Association for Asian Studies, EAA is an essential resource with feature articles, curriculum guides and reviews of books and other resources. The print edition is available for $20-30/year. As a service to teachers everywhere, the Association has made the more than 1,500 articles from the magazine's vast archive available for free download. Search for resources by keyword, culture or theme. You can also sign up for the magazine's email newsletter and follow it on Facebook.
National Consortium for Teaching about Asia
USCI is proud to be part of NCTA. The consortium is funded by the Freeman Foundation. At NCTA's website you can learn about course offerings and tap into resources such as the Freeman Book Awards for Children’s and Young Adult Literature on East and Southeast Asia.
This is an initiative of our NCTA partners at the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University. Resources include a huge pool of lesson plans, primary source materials and microsites focusing on particular topics (e.g., the Song dynasty and Mongols in world history) AFE also has a Facebook page.
East Asian Gateway for Linking Educators
A project of our NCTA partners at the University of Pittsburgh. The site boasts a large collection of lesson plans and more. You can register to join the community.

Five College Center for East Asian Studies
This NCTA partner's website offers a collection of recorded webinars as well as a collection of curriculum materials such as the "Walking the Tokaido" unit.
Our NCTA partners at the University of Washington maintain the resources at this site. Among its offerings is a vetted collection of recommended online resources.
Stanford Program on International and Cross-cultural Education
SPICE is a NCTA partner and produces many of the most widely-used curriculum guides on East Asia. Some of the materials, including videos, are available online without charge.
Indiana University Teacher Resources
Our NCTA partner has long specialized in programs on East Asian literature and has many teacher-created lesson plans exploring a variety of genre, periods and concepts.
