The 53rd Annual California Council for the Social Studies Conference, CCSS Wants You: Dig in for The Challenge will be held in Los Angeles in 2014. Below are a few details to help guide you in making the most of your conference experience.

Are you a First Timer?
Newcomers are invited to the First Timers’ Session for an introduction to the conference and “insider tips” on heightening your conference experience. The session runs Friday from 7:45am – 8:15am in Grand A and includes complimentary coffee, muffins and lots of free giveaways!

Common Core 2.0:
The conference will also feature a “Boot Camp” or “conference-in-a-conference” for teachers and administrators providing workshops and presentations addressing issues of assessment, cross-curricular collaboration, and lesson-application. There will be Common Core presenters from LAUSD, Los Angeles County Office of Education, Alameda County Office of Education, Tulare County Office of Education, UC Davis, USC Dornsife CALIS Project, and many more. Space for Common Core 2.0 is limited, and early registration is encouraged. Early-bird registration rates for the entire conference are available through January 17, 2014. You will also need to select Strand A (Elementary), B (Secondary) or C (General)

Legislative Breakfast
Learn more about the political issues facing History-Social Science at the Legislative Breakfast Saturday morning. (Tickets are $15 and may be purchased onsite.)
Dr. Joseph Kahne will receive the CCSS Civic Action Award!

Awards Dinner
Join us as we honor colleagues at the Awards Dinner Saturday evening. These award recipients will truly inspire all that attend. (Tickets are $30 and may be purchased onsite.)
