Natural History Museum-Washington DC

I unfortunately was not able to attend one session because I attended AERA, an educational research conference in Washington DC. However, while I was there, I visited the Natural History Museum and I was able to see a Jomon pot! I was so excited to see it, I think the docent was a bit confused by my excitement. It was a very small one, which made me wonder what exactly it was used for because not much would be able to fit into it. The only information provided was that it the pots were found at Lake Anenuma, Honshu, Japan and that is believe to be about 6,000 years old. There was also a fragment of a larger pot that looked similar to an image shown in class, from the same area. I wish there was more information provided about the use of this specific pottery, but it only stated that these pottery pieces would have been used to store things, and about 18,000 years ago, pottery began to appear in Japan. Nonetheless, I was awesome to see these two pieces in person.
