Mr. Baseball - Film Review

Mr. Baseball, a 1992 film, staring Tom Selleck. Yes, that Tom Selleck is actually quite useful in demonstrating Japanese-American Ancestry, Interconnectedness and Cultural Appropriation. Selleck's characters is a down on his luck baseball hero who has a bad year and has to play in Japan to earn his right back into the big leagues. Obviously upon arriving he is taken back by the various cultural norms he is not accustom too, shower before bathing for example. As he lives and plays there though he begins to recognize unique Japanese traditions as important, the similarities between American culture and Japanes culture, finds out more about himself, and falls in love. The film could be extremely useful in discussion in Japanese-American relations, heritage, cultural appropration etc. I believe it is on Netflix, but can easily be found Amazon.
