Film Review for East Asian Design – Summer 2022

Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) is Japanese language documentary that tells the true story of an 85-year-old sushi master named Jiro Ono. The setting of the story is a small ten seat restaurant located near a Tokyo subway station.  Jiro is a consummate professional, his restaurant had a three-star Michelin rating at the time of filming.

I like this film because it tells the true story of dedicated craftsman who has a passion for his vocation. Jiro is known for his attention to detail, and he is driven by the belief that he can improve himself continuously.

I believe that this film serves as an excellent example for young people in that it shows a person who has passion for his trade and who seeks to continuously perfect his art.
