The Brotherhood of War

I watched Tae Guk Gi- The Brotherhood of War for my film. The movie depicts two brothers from South Korea as they are forced to join the army at the onset of the war. The film is effective in showing the scope of the war as well as the brutality that occurred during this ideological war. Although very well made I would say this movie was far too violent to show to students. Perhaps small clips could be played at the beginning of the scenes that depict the forced conscription or the divide between the communist north and capitalist/democratic south. In viewing this film, I’m wondering if this generation is highly revered for the sacrifices that were made. Especially when you consider the difference in standards of living between North and South Korea today.
