thinking strategies applied to tibetan art

At the beginning of the year, I like to expose my students to different thinking strategies and show them how they apply to writing.
Its my belief that students should understand the importance of making inferences, questioning, metacognition and connecting.

I try to expose them to a single piece of art or writing and have them work through each thinking skill.
I had an idea after receiving the China's Tibet magazine. (2007.3 vol 18).

On pages 18-19 there are eight Tibetan symbols.
Some of the symbols are the Tibetan White Conch Horn, Two Golden Fish, The Precious Golden Wheel of Dharma, etc...

For each symbol, I would like for the students to infer what each symbol may mean based on the colors and images. I would like them to be aware of what thoughts led to their decisions. Then I will tell them what each symbol means. They will compare their inference to the actual meaning and see how close they got.
In addition, I think it would be great for them to create a list of questions about each symbol. These questions may lead them to further their curiosity or pursue further research on the symbol.
