On September 25, DePaul University is hosting a free public screening of the film, “The Revolutionary”. The film tells the story of Sidney Rittenberg, an American who went to China after WWII, joined the Chinese Communist Party, and was an active participant in the communist revolution for 35 years. An intimate of the Party’s leadership, including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, he gained prominence at the Broadcast Administration, one of the most important agencies of government. But in the convulsions of the Mao era, he twice ran afoul of the leadership and served a total of 16 years in solitary confinement.

The screening will be followed by an audience discussion with two of the film’s creators and (via Skype) Sidney Rittenberg. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and is being held at: 247 S. State St., Suite LL105 (lower level theater). If you wish to attend, please click RSVP at pstalley@depaul.edu.
