The Visual Artists Guild and the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer LIbrary jointly present a talk by Yu Jie to discuss his book, "A Light Through Darkness: A Biography of Liu Xiaobo."

About the Author
Yu Jie is a best selling author from China. Born in 1973, Yu received his masters degree in literature from Beijing University.
His first book, "Fire and Ice" sold more than a million copies and won the 1998 China's ten best books.
He is the author of over 35 books.
His awards includes 2001 Asia Publishers Best Critique, 2003 New York's Cultural News award.
In 2005, he was vice-president of China Independent PEN together with Liu Xiaobo as the president.
His book "From Berlin Wall to Tiananmen" is one of the finalist for 2009 Hong Kong Best Book.
His book, "China's Best Actor: Wen Jiabao" is 2010 finalist for Hong Kong Best Book.
In 2012, he is awarded Solzhenitsyn's Train Foundation Civil Courage Prize.
Yu Jie will be speaking about his recently published book, "A Light Through Darkness: A Biography of Liu Xiaobo," about the Nobel Peace Laureate Liu Xiaobo, who is currently imprisoned in China.
