Video: Timothy Cheek Looks at the CCP
July 1, 2021 is the official date for the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party. Celebrations—and required study sessions—abound inside China. Dark assessments of Communist crimes and plots fill Western media. In this webinar, Timothy Cheek looks at how Mao used an ideological rectification campaign to deal with dissenters such as Wang Shiwei in the 1940s and how Xi Jinping is reviving a form of ideological governance in which only the Party can save China and only rectification under one supreme leader can save the Party.
