Wan Yeung (Ngai Wan Yeung), from Hong Kong, currently a music student at UCI, and his pipa master Wu Junsheung from Beijing, perform traditional Chinese music that will take you on a journey back to Ancient China. Among several pieces that they will present are Shi Mian Mai Fu (Ambush from all Sides) and Bawang Xie Jia (the Unarming Conqueror), two prominent pieces of pipa music that depict the winning and losing sides of the war between Chu and Han forces, a contention that happened between Qin and Western Han Dynasty.  Visual images on the screen will augment the performance.

Following the performance, please join us for Happy Hour with the musicians in Tangata.
