Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.
Music in the Chinese Garden - Qichao Liu on dizi and sheng
A different solo musician will perform each week inside the Love for the Lotus Pavilion, playing unamplified melodies on classical instruments including the dizi, sheng, pipa, erhu, and zheng.

Music! Starting in October, visitors will be able to enjoy the sounds of traditional Chinese music on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. in the garden. A different solo musician will perform each week inside Ai Lian Xie 愛蓮榭, the Love for the Lotus Pavilion, playing unamplified melodies on classical instruments including the dizi 笛子, sheng 笙, pipa 琵琶, erhu二胡, and guzheng 古箏.
Let the music transport you to another time and place as you stroll through one of the most magical landscapes in Southern California.
