Please join Asia Society Southern California for a special reception and dinner on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 6:30 pm with our new Co-Chairs, Ronnie C. Chan and Henrietta H. Fore. Mr. Chan will be the next in our series of Visionary Speakers talking about his career and views on Asia’s continued development, and Ms. Fore will discuss Asia Society’s new global vision at this challenging economic and political time.  In addition, ASSC will launch its LAsia 21 program led by Eric Garcetti and Seagull Song. The program is designed to identify and honor rising stars under the age of 40 in the Southern California community who are building bridges between Asia and the U.S.

Ronnie C. Chan is Chairman of Hang Lung Group and Hang Lung Properties – both publicly listed in Hong Kong. Under Chan’s adership, Hang Lung has been a leader in Hong Kong’s dynamic property market for more than 40 years and has been expanding into mainland China for nearly two decades.  He also is the Co-Founder of the Morningside Group, a diversified business group with investments around the world.  As the first-ever Asian Co-Chair of Asia Society, Chan is a visionary to many up-and-coming Asian Pacific American leaders.

Henrietta Holsman Fore is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Holsman International, an international investment and management company.  Fore was the first woman to serve as Administrator (CEO) of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Director of U.S. Foreign Assistance from 2007 to 2009.  From 2005 to 2007, she was Undersecretary of State for Management, the Chief Operating Officer of the State Department. Fore brings to Asia Society her vast business leadership experiences in both public and private sectors, as well as her global perspective.

We look forward to welcoming you to a special evening of shared ideas and interesting dialogue. The event will be held at the Empress Pavilion in Chinatown at 988 N. Hill Street (parking entrance on Bernard Street). The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a traditional Chinese dinner served at 7:30 p.m.
