The speaker will discuss five historical episodes in the grand narrative of Qin’s rise from a supposedly backward territory in China’s northwest—what is now Gansu and western Shaanxi provinces—into a powerful state that competed with and eventually surpassed and conquered the other states of Eastern Zhou China.
