The film that I watched was called "Spirited Away", which came out in 2001. This is an animated film. This film was directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki. The film is about a 10-year-old girl named Chihiro, who is moving to a new home with her parents. Her dad makes a wrong turn and wind up entering a strange spirit world without their knowing. As they are exploring, they find a stall that is full of food, and start devouring it. As she roams around, she encounters a boy named Haku who warns her to leave or else they turn to pigs. She and her parents are now trapped in the spirit world. Chihiro must find a way to get her parents back to normal and leave the spirit world. With the help of Haku, she manages to leave the spirit world with her parents back to normal. The way that I believe that I can incorporate this film in my classroom is by discussing the film’s theme of greed. Greed is shown throughout the film, the parents devouring the food and the workers at the bathhouse trying to get as much gold as they can from No-Face. I liked the movie, but I must admit that I had to restart the beginning again to understand it. Also, the movie was quite long, it was 2 hours. The best way to show it is in sections, and discuss it with the students, to see if they understand the film.
