Pranab Bardhan casts a skeptical eye on the phenomenal growth of China and India over the past three decades, taking issue with conventional wisdom and drawing attention to the structural, political, and institutional constraints these rising economic powerhouses face. A professor of economics at the University of California at Berkeley, Bardhan is the author of 12 books on political economy and development economics.
