Taiwanese Poster Design: An Engagement with Indigenous Arts

A selection of award-winning posters by Taiwanese design students that draw their inspiration from the motifs, themes, and traditional arts of Taiwan's "Yuanzhumin," or aborigines.

Taiwan’s "Yuanzhumin," or aborigines, inspire a selection of award-winning posters by Taiwanese design students. Motifs, myths, and the dilemmas of modern life are among the themes of the exhibit, on loan from the Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines. The beauty and vigor of traditional arts are explored through the sensibility and creativity of Taiwan’s young artists. An opening reception follows a talk on Taiwan’s "Yuanzhumin" at 5 pm on Thursday, June 17. Extended viewing hours will be offered Saturday, June 19, and Sunday, June 20, in conjunction with the North America Taiwan Studies Association Conference; contact IEAS for details.
