The Huntington Library presents a talk by Professor Peter Sturman on the evolution of Chinese calligraphy.

Peter Sturman, professor of Chinese painting and calligraphy at UC Santa Barbara, will discuss the evolution of Chinese calligraphy from the late Qing dynasty (1644-1911) to the early Republican Period (1912-1949), with a particular focus on the writing of statesman Weng Tonghe, founder of the Weng collection.

This lecture is related to the exhibition, “Treasures through Six Generations: Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Weng Collection” (April 11— July 13, 2009 at The MaryLou and George Boone Gallery)
