When:
October 28, 2016 6:30pm
Where
The chamber recital "Island Memories" is a feast of visual and musical arts interpreting Chen, Cheng-Po’s artworks through the interplay of sound and vision.
The program includes arrangements of compositions by distinguished Taiwanese composers. Inspired by Chen's remarkable artworks, the music was composed for a concert among a series of events planned by The Cultural Foundation of Chen, Cheng-po in Taiwan to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Mr. Chen in 2013.
The recital features doctoral students from UW-Madison school of music. Originally for Chinese orchestra, several compositions were arranged for solo pieces or chamber music, resonating with Chen's dynamic and fusion art style. The instruments include violin, clarinet, bassoon, and piano.
