2010 California NCTA Summer Study Tour to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan

The National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) invites seminar alumni from 2001-2009* seminars in California to participate in our 2010 California NCTA Summer Study Tour to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan

California K-12 educators who have successfully completed an NCTA seminar coordinated by USC, UCLA or Stanford are eligible to apply.  (*Participants of Fall 2009 USCI/NCTA seminars are not eligible to apply.)  Selection for study tour participation is competitive.  No more than 18 teachers will be selected.

Individuals also applying for the 2010 California NCTA/NAHF Summer Study Tour to Korea should understand they can only be selected for one tour, not both.

Overview

- Tentative tour dates: July 2 to 23, 2010

 

- Tentative itinerary: China - Shenzhen, Shanghai, Datong, Pingyao, and Beijing; Hong Kong; Taiwan - Taipei, Tainan

- Program requirements: 

- Weekend orientation - April 24 to 25, 2010 at USC
- Follow-up weekend orientation - September 18 to 19, 2010 at USC
- Active participation in a study tour-focused online discussion forum
- Completion of curriculum project and 2010-2011 academic year follow-through

- Program expenses: $800 (see application for details)

- Application deadline: Applications must be postmarked on or before Monday, March 1, 2010

HOW TO APPLY - NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

1.  DOWNLOAD the application form --- Please read through the application form carefully to determine that you meet the eligibility requirements and will be able to fulfill the program components.

2.  COMPLETE the application form --- The form is an interactive .pdf file, so you may complete and save your changes electronically.  However, we will only accept hard copies of completed applications.

3.  SUBMIT the completed application materials --- Application materials must be postmarked on or before Monday, March 1, 2010
