Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.

NCTA-subsidized study tour takes seminar alumni through eleven cities in China and Japan

The National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) is dedicated to bringing Asia to the classroom and funds professional development seminars for K-12 educators. Alumni of these seminars, coordinated by CSUF, Stanford, UCLA, and USC, are invited to apply for the NCTA-subsidized summer study tour and participants are selected based on how eagerly and effectively they have incorporated East Asia content into their curricula. Participants selected for the study tour must complete a pre-trip orientation weekend, as well as a post-trip weekend session where they share teaching ideas and materials inspired by the study tour.
