The School of Social Sciences Research Network (SSRN) at UC Irvine seeks a highly motivated, effective communicator with strong administrative skills and proven leadership ability to successfully manage the UC Irvine Long U.S. China Institute. Reporting directly to the SSRN Manager, Executive Director of Development and, in collaboration with the Long Institute Director and Chair, the Assistant Director is tasked with developing the UC Irvine Long U.S. China Institute into a world class center with interdisciplinary influence on academia and practice, while simultaneously strengthening the University's brand in the specialty areas of the Institute as they develop over time. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Development, the incumbent develops strategies to manage an annual fund program and support a major gifts program for the School of Social Sciences. The Assistant Director plans and directs all administrative functions in support of the Institute; implements and oversees all activities and communications. The Assistant Director is responsible for analyzing needs, establishing short and long-range objectives and implementing effective organizational planning to meet the research and programmatic goals of the Institute. Responsible for the management, strategic planning for, and leadership of, all administrative activities in the institute, including fiscal management, academic/staff human resources and internal controls.
