Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.
Walkathon for China Earthquake Relief
A walkathon to raise awareness and donations for victims of the China Sichuan earthquake .
Time: 9:00 am registration, walk starts at 10:00 am

Participation Requirements :
• Minimum donation: $20 per person. Please have your friends sponsor you to walk to raise more. Each participant is responsible for collecting your own donation (cash or checks) and bring them to the Walk.
• Make checks payable to “CCGLA 512 Wenchuan” (CCGLA stands for Chinese Consulate General in L.A., Wenchuan is the location of the earthquake) and write “China Earthquake Relief” on the memo part of the check. Your donation using a check is tax deductible. You will not be given a receipt for cash donation. All checks and cash collected will be sent to CCGLA, no expenses will be charged. If you are unable to attend, but wish to support, please send your donation check to Hong Kong Schools Alumni Federation at 919 S. Fremont Avenue, #318, Alhambra CA 91803.
• Dress code: white top (preferred T shirt or Polo shirt).
• Bring your own water.
• During the walk, participants may not carry their own signs and logos or chant slogans.
