Voices of Aging Chinese Immigrants: Implications for Policy and Practice in a Culturally Diverse Aging Society

The USC School of Social Work presents a talk with Daniel Lai on research findings to different community realities faced by aging Chinese immigrants in Canada.

Chinese in Canada have a lengthy history of settlement. Social and economic contexts have shaped the community constitution of Chinese older adults, resulting in unique sociocultural characteristics and diversity within this large minority aging population. Professor Daniel W.L. Lai's presentation will focus on linking research findings to different community realities faced by aging Chinese immigrants.
 
Daniel W.L. Lai, PhD, RSW is a Professor and Associate Dean (Research & Partnerships) of the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary. He is also Chair of the Division of Social Sciences, Canadian Association of Gerontology. His teaching and research focuses on the relationship between culture, health, and the well being of aging immigrants and culturally diverse populations, family caregiving, and social policy issues related to population aging.
