Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.

In early November, Donald Trump will visit Asia for the first time since assuming the presidency. As he heads to take part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, he will also be visiting Japan, South Korea, China, and the Philippines at a time of increasing regional uncertainty. While North Korea will undoubtedly be at the top of the agenda, there are longer-term issues at stake, such as managing a risen China just coming out of a major Party Congress as well as setting the course to sustain the long-term stability and prosperity of the world’s most populous region. Join us to discuss the issues at play and how it will affect U.S. national interests.
