In current times, we see a world dominated by the United States in terms of military and strategic power, multinational corporations, political influence and soft power. Yet China has clearly begun to gain strength in each of these realms, causing its rise and its resource diplomacy to be of increasing significance to the United States' national interests and its global responsibilities. How will China's striving for resource security affect the international system, and how will that acquisition of resources, within the current global context, affect the relationship between the U.S. and China?
