Taiwanese Culture in Madison 2016

Madison city and University of Wisconsin-Madison campus will celebrate “Taiwanese Culture in Madison 2016”, a series of events honoring and sharing the rich tradition as well as the contemporary practice of arts and culture from Taiwan.

From October 19 to November 5, 2016, Madison city and University of Wisconsin-Madison campus will celebrate “Taiwanese Culture in Madison 2016”, a series of events honoring and sharing the rich tradition as well as the contemporary practice of arts and culture from Taiwan. The celebration will include Taiwan Cinema film screenings at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, the art exhibition of a prominent Taiwanese artist Chen, Cheng Po (1895 -1947) and a local Taiwanese artist Dr. C.K. Chang in Overture Center Playhouse Gallery, a concert to honor the brilliant artworks of Chen, Cheng Po, series of academic lectures focus on 1) Design History and Studies of Taipei and 2) Design for Social Good, and a final component of the diverse program, the world-renowned Taiyuan Puppet Theater Company’s performance of “A Sea of Puppets” will showcase the unique artistic brilliance and an everlasting tradition of Taiwan.
 
Directed by Dr. Jin-Wen Yu of the Dance Dept. of UW-Madison with the support of Taiwanese Association of Madison-Wisconsin, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago, Taiwan Academy, Overture Center, Madison Arts Commission, Formosan Association of Public Affairs-Wisconsin Chapter, North America Taiwanese Professor Association, and several Taiwanese student organizations of UW-Madison, we welcome audience of all ages in Madison area and beyond to join us this marvelous opportunity to experience the rich and diverse culture of Taiwan!
