Over the past few weeks, news headlines have focused on two major world events: the 2008 Taiwan election and the outbreak of violent unrest in Tibet. Inextricably tied to both is the Beijing Olympics, whose kick-off torch relay has stirred the emotions of protesters and supporters alike throughout the world.

While pundits, politicians, and academics have had their say about the meaning and impact behind Taiwan and Tibet, there’s one voice missing.
