What is the future of East Asian Studies? As the humanities increasingly  integrates quantitative analysis, and social science moves ever farther from questions of culture or regional difference, what research questions are best positioned to drive analysis of East Asia? If we were to open a countervailing tendency, which areas harbor the greatest potential?
