Where
You are invited to a USC Sustainability Network colloquium on China's approach to urban environmental sustainability, on Thursday Nov 1, 9:30am-1pm, in the Davidson Conference Center's Board Room.
We have a panel of experts who will present us overviews of key aspects of the issue:
* Dan Mazmanian, Professor, Price School of Public Policy, on comparing Chinese and US environmental policy;
* Andrew Liang, Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Architecture on the emergence of intelligent urbanism in China;
* Jeff Sellers, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science , on land use trends in Chinese cities;
* Juliana Wang, Assistant Professor of the Practice, Environmental Studies Program, on restructuring of urban water and power sectors in China.
We will begin at 9:30am with coffee and informal discussion.
The presentations will start at 10am, and the presentations and associated discussion will take us to about 12:15pm.
Discussion will flow into lunch between about 12:15 and 1pm.
The goal of the discussion is to identify points of common research interest and possible collaborations moving forward.
If you are doing any research related to this topic, we invite you to bring along a poster describing your work: these will help fuel the discussion. You can put up your poster at 9:30, and people will have to review it before we start at 10, during the coffee break, and during lunch.
If you know of other researchers who should be invited to join us, please forward them this invitation or ask me to do so.
