The Smithsonian Institute hosts a performance by the artists from the prestigious Shanghai Kunju Troupe.
Discover the highly refined Chinese music-theater known as kunqu with artists from the prestigious Shanghai Kunju Troupe, joined by American-based star Qian Yi. They present famous scenes illustrating Buddhist themes, in conjunction with the exhibition Echoes of the Past: The Buddhist Cave Temples of Xiangtangshan.
Presented in cooperation with the Wintergreen Kunqu Society and in celebration of the tenth anniversary of UNESCO naming kunqu a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
