Thursday evening:
Showing of the Emmy-winning film "Journey of the Universe" followed by a discussion with Mary Evelyn Tucker (Yale School of Forestry), co-writer.
 
Friday:
Lectures and discussion on classical and contemporary China led by Roger Ames (Univ. of Hawaii, Editor of Philosophy East and West) and Japanese views of nature as reflected in garden architecture and spiritual principles led by Graham Parkes (Univ. College Cork and Director of the Irish Institute of Japanese Studies).
 
Saturday:
Roundtable discussions with several visiting scholars focusing on related topics such as the body in religion and philosophy (East and West), potential contributions of Japanese philosophy to western theory, and issues of teaching and learning as reflected through East Asian/western comparison. The lead person for those discussions will be James Heisig (Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture, Japan).
