Professor Stein Ringen, University of Oxford, will discuss his latest book titled “The Perfect Dictatorship: China in the 21st Century”. Based on diverse sources and extensive collaboration with Chinese scholars, he argues that the new political system under Xi Jinping is not only more ideological than the legacy of Deng Xiaoping, but has also left China less strong economically and more dictatorial politically.
