NY Premiere Event - Waking Buddha Live: Contemplative Immersive Cinema
Tibet House presents a screening and meditation with filmmaker/artist John Halpern.
Where
Waking Buddha Live is an interactive film experience combining audience participation and meditation with on-screen contemplative film content.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal, Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche, Tenzin Robert Thurman, Matthieu Ricard, Mark Epstein, Joe Loizzo, Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Richard Gere, and others, speak about contemporary spiritual life, social engagement, altruism and global sustainability. The live audience meditations are directly related to the film's subject matter: our motivations for spiritual practice, such as pain and altruism; "obstacles" to practice, like conditioned mind and delusion; and benefits like, awareness, liberation, interconnectivity, love, joy and social engagement.
Immersive Cinema offers cinematic contact with evocative film media together with contemplative techniques to evoke and sustain prolonged states of meditative appreciation, awareness and non-conceptual experience.
