After his unforgettable appearance during the Philharmonic Society of Orange County’s 2008-2009 Season Opening Night Celebration, pianist Lang Lang returns with a program entitled Lang Lang and Friends. Lang Lang will perform alongside up-and-coming young Chinese musicians – erhu player Guo Gan, tenor GeQun Wang, cellist Hai-Ye Ni, violinist Zhu Dab and featuring 10-year old piano prodigy Marc Yu. The repertoire includes Schubert: Rondo in A major, Bizet: Fantasy On Themes From Carmen, and Tchaikovsky: Piano Trio.
The South Coast Chinese Cultural Association will present a pre-concert lecture and demonstration featuring Chinese musical instruments performed by the instructor and students from Irvine Chinese School’s Chinese Orchestra and Galaxy Youth Art Performing Group. This event will be open to all Lang Lang and Friends ticketholders (6pm).
