Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. How Aggressive is China?
The Sigur Center for Asian Studies co-hosts a panel discussion on China's geopolitical policies to date and its goals for the future.
Where
The extent of China’s geopolitical goals—both in East Asia and across the globe—is possibly the most important factor in determining how the United States should strike the balance between competitive and cooperative policies for managing its relationship with China. However, assessing the motives of a rising power is especially difficult and experts disagree on whether China is aggressive and if so, the extent of China’s goals. This panel will present a range of perspectives on China’s policies to date and its goals for the future.
The panel on "How Agressive is China?" will feature:
Robert Sutter, Professor of Practice of International Affairs, George Washington University
Robert Daly, Director of the Kissinger Institute on China and the United State, Wilson Center
Amitai Etzioni, Professor of International Affairs and Director of the Institute for Communitarian Policy Studies, George Washington University
Mike Mochizuki, Associate Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, George Washington University
This event is co-sponsored by the Sigur Center for Asian Studies and the Institute for Security and Conflict Studies.
A light lunch will be served at 11:45am.
