Professor Lothar von Falkenhausen from UCLA will present an archaeological perspective on the social history of China during a crucial formative period. How did their social context influence the thinking of Confucius and his disciples? How do we reconcile the material evidence from the important archaeological finds of the past half-century with the transmitted textual record of Chinese civilization?
