Ling Chen, Assistant Professor of International Political Economy, Johns Hopkins University - SAIS
Ling Chen is Assistant Professor of International Political Economy at SAIS. Before joining the SAIS faculty in 2015, she was a Shorenstein Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University and Rajawali Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Her research interests lie in comparative politics and political economy of China and East Asia, especially the political origins of economic policies and how institutions shape the choices of state officials and business actors. She has published a number of peer-reviewed articles and her current book project examines the local politics of industrial policy in China under the condition of economic openness. chen was recognized as the Emerging Diversity Scholar by the University of Michigan. her research has received support from institutions such as the Social Science Research Council (Andrew Mellon Foundation), Institute for Humane Studies, Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation, Johns Hopkings University and Stanford University.
