Ian Johnson, now a freelance writer based in Beijing, won a Pulitzer in 2001 for his coverage of China for the Wall Street Journal, then spent several years in Germany working for the same newspaper, before returning to the PRC. He is the author of Wild Grass: Three Portraits of Change in Modern China (2004) and the brand new A Mosque in Munich: Nazis, the CIA, and the Rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in the West.
Angilee Shah is a contributor to "The China Beat" and past editor of AsiaMedia who is now the community manager of ReportingonHealth.org, a social media project of the USC Annenberg California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships, She reviews books regularly for "Zócalo Public Square" and has contributed to periodicals such as the Far Eastern Economic Review and websites like “Global Voices Online.” She has blogged about and reported on many parts of Asia, from Sri Lanka to Hong Kong, and on a wide range of topics, including most recently the role of Islam in Indonesia.
