Join us for a free one-day workshop for educators at the Japanese American National Museum, hosted by the USC U.S.-China Institute and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. This workshop will include a guided tour of the beloved exhibition Common Ground: The Heart of Community, slated to close permanently in January 2025. Following the tour, learn strategies for engaging students in the primary source artifacts, images, and documents found in JANM’s vast collection and discover classroom-ready resources to support teaching and learning about the Japanese American experience.

The Senate Committee is proud to present Jonathan Frankie Leung who will discuss China and whether its economic rise threatens the United States. Mr. Leung will capitalize on his expertise and experience as an attorney working in China and Hong Kong to shed new light on China's economic policies and whether or not the country is truly a "paper tiger". Mr. Leung maintained a commercial and international practice with two international law firms before leaving as a partner after 12 years to set up his current law practice in Los Angeles. Mr.Leung graduated with first class honors at the University of Hong Kong, received a master's degree from Oxford University School of Jurisprudence and was a visiting scholar at Harvard Law School. He is an adjunct professor on international and comparative law at Stanford University, USC, Loyola Law School and The University of Hong Kong Law School. Mr. Leung is a member of the Pacific Council for International Policy and a member of their China committee. He speaks and writes Chinese, French and English and has been a member of Jonathan Club since 1989 and is a past President of its Toastmasters group.
