EASC Spring Film Series, Second Screening: "Te Wei Animated Shorts"
The second installment of IU-Bloomington's EASC Film Series takes place Wednesday, March 11, with a screening of hallowed Chinese filmmaker Te Wei’s特偉 Animated Shorts.
Where
This feature-length selection of short films by Mainland Chinese animator Te Wei highlights the evolution and maturation of a distinctive aesthetic style within the industrial aegis of Shanghai Animation Film Studio, erstwhile source of some of China’s most conventional and widely-distributed animated films. From the Disney-style character animation of The Conceited General, Te Wei and his collaborators move into a more lyrical, painterly style, culminating in 1988’s Feeling from Mountain and Water, which takes the form of a traditional Chinese shanshui landscape painting come to life.
