Krupp, Director of Griffith Observatory, immerses us in the seasonally tempered temples of Beijing and the sky lore of traditional China and, as well, examines the astronomers and the observatories that mobilized emperors for seasonal ritual and legitimized dynasties with a celestial mandate.
