Documenting the Global City -- 2011 Screening

Collaborative film project between students from USC and the Communication University of China

July 12, 2011 7:30pm to 10:00pm

This program, funded by the USC School of Cinematic Arts, the Communication University of China, the USC U.S.-China Institute and Mr. Stephen Lesser, began in 2006 to bring students together to explore important characteristices of Los Angeles and Beijing.

Each year a handful of students from one of the schools travels with one or two faculty members to the other country and school. There they form pairs, identify a topic to explore, and in a matter of weeks complete a short documentary.

You are invited to join us for a screening of these films. Here are the pairs of filmmakers:

Chen Huang and Li Yue
Joshua Hsieh and Pan He
Daniel Bydlowski and Chao Men
Geoff Marschall and Chen Kerong
David Turner and Yao Tingting
Faroukh Virani and Dai Can

They have been guided by Johanna Demetrakas, Mark Harris and Marsha Kinder from USC and Si Ruo and Rong Lu from Communication University of China.

A reception will follow the screening.
