Dr. Yu Hongyuan will share his impressions of the Rio +20 Summit on Sustainable Development that will be taking place from June 20 - 22 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Rio +20 Summit will bring together world leaders, along with thousands of participants from governments, the private sector, NGOs and other groups, to shape how we can reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection.
 
DR. YU HONGYUAN is Professor and Deputy Director of the Department of International Organizations and Laws at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS). He is also an honorary fellow of Center for International Energy Strategy Studies, Renmin University of China, and an honorary fellow of the Centre for Asian Pacific Studies at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D from Chinese University of Hong Kong, and M.Phil from Renmin University of China. From 1998 to 2000, he worked with the administrative centre for China's Agenda 21 at the Ministry of Science and Technology. Yu Hongyuan is the author of numerous publications, including most recently Environmental Change and the Asia Pacific.
