Deathplace and Ethno-Islamic Identity among the Uyghurs of Chinese Turkestan

Rian Thum will speak as part of the University of Wisconsin's Muslim Minorities in Inner Asia Lecture Series.

Rian Thum, Assistant Professor of History at Loyola University in New Orleans will speak at UW Madison. Xinjiang is home to one of Inner Asia's largest Muslim populations, the Turkic-speaking Uyghur people. This two-lecture series will focus on aspects of Uyghur everyday life, and offer insights on Uyghur traditions and Islamic diversity.
