A slide show and talk in English and Cantonese. In China, jade is believed to have life-prolonging qualities, and many consider jade more precious than gold. Emperors admired it, scholars praise it, and women wear jade to adorn their beauty. For thousands of years carvers have drawn inspiration from nature and creatively worked jade into various forms and sizes. Over time, layers of meaning have been associated with the essence and qualities of jade objects.
