Dr. Hongli Feng was born and raised near Chongqing, a major port city in southwestern China. For her college education in economics, she went to Beijing, the capital city of China, traveling about 30 hours by train from her hometown. Since completing her Ph.D. in Economics at Iowa State University in 2001, she has enjoyed doing research, teaching, and advising at ISU.  Dr. Feng, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Economics at ISU, is published in leading journals in natural resources and environmental economics. Among other responsibilities, she currently co-teaches a new online course on the economies of China and India. Her talk will attempt to explain what makes China seem to be so mighty, and at the same time, so fragile.
