China Society 75th anniversary meeting: Zhao Feng on “Recent Textiles from the Silk Road”

Direct from Hangzhou, China, the China Society presents the Deputy Director and Curator of the Chinese National Silk Museum, Dr. Zhao Feng.

A world authority on ancient Chinese textiles, Dr. Zhao has published widely in his field of expertise and researched Silk Road textiles at major museums throughout the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Musee Guimet in Paris, and the Victoria & Albert and British Museums in London.  Trained as a textile technician, Dr. Zhao has analyzed structure, materials and dyes of hundreds of textiles dating from the Warring States period (475-221 BCE) to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and has been responsible for several important exhibitions and catalogues at his institution that highlighted finds from the deserts of Western China through which the famed Silk Road passed.
