The China Night event, sponsored by the Chinese program of the Department of Asian Studies and the Carolina Asia Center, will be hosted at 5:30-7:30pm on Monday, November 9. The event is open to all students currently enrolled in classes offered by the Chinese program, as well as students who are interested in learning more about the Chinese language and content courses offered at UNC.

During the event, faculty from the Chinese program will teach students how to make dumplings. While students are making dumplings, Dr. Gang Yue, Associate Professor of Chinese and coordinator of the UNC Chinese program, will introduce the curriculum of the Chinese program, including the courses offered and the requirements for majoring and minoring in Chinese.

Followed by Dr. Yue’s introduction, study-abroad returnees will do mini-presentations to share their experiences in China with the students. Upon our request, some recent graduates from the Chinese program who currently work in China have also made short video clips, which will be played during the event as well.
